Avon Foundation Information The Avon Foundation is an accredited 501(c)(3) public charity in the US that was founded in 1955 to improve the lives of women and their families. Now past the half century mark, the Avon Foundation brings this mission to life through two key areas of focus: the fight against breast cancer and support for women's empowerment, including economic advancement and the issue of domestic violence, and more than 300 grants area awarded each year for these important causes. The flagship programs are the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which works to advance access to care and finding a cure; and Speak Out Against Domestic Violence, focused on ending the cycle of domestic violence, with a special focus on children. Avon is proudly the largest corporate supporter of the breast cancer cause, with programs in 50 countries, and the commitment to domestic violence is growing.

Avon and the Avon Foundation also respond quickly to national and international emergencies, raising funds and providing support for women and famiiles affected by incidents such as the attacks of September 11, 2001; the tsunami in Southeast Asia; Hurricanes Rita and Katrina; and the military conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Funds are raised through a variety of events, such as the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series, and the sale of special fundraising products by Avon Sales Representatives. In 2006, the combined global philanthropy of Avon and the Avon Foundation reached an extraordinary milestone: more the $500 million raised and awarded. Some things to consider:
Start up cost with Avon is between $10 - $20
Ongoing monthly costs (catalogs, website, etc.) - Website is optional and free if you have one online order. Brochure cost is minimal.
Sales Quotas - No sales quotas, however you must submit an order at least once every 6 weeks (no minimum order required).
Compensation Plan - Profit Margin/commission rate - Earnings are 40% for the first 2 months then 20 - 50% based on order total.
Number of reps to compete with in your area - Most Avon Independent Sales Reps sign up to get discounts for themselves and sell to friends and family.

I've been selling for 3 years. I live in a small town and when I started there were at least 15 reps here and 400+ in the entire district. My second year I was 10th in the district for sales and #1 in the district for sales increase over the prior year. The lady who was 9th in the district for sales the same year also sales here in town and has been selling for 18 years. I personally don't feel like the other reps in the area are much competition at all.

Additionally, there is no required inventory, no manditory meetings. Avon provides FREE Online Training and excellent incentives (right now Avon is giving away a car). You also get discounts from various companies such as Sprint and T-Mobile, theme parks, and more.

With any Business Opportunity you do have to be self motivated and willing to work it like a "real" job. You also have to expect to put some money into your business to build it. I always recommend in the beginning not to order more in business tools and personal items than you profit from the previous campaign, unless of course you can afford it otherwise.
